Cricket legends are headed to Griffith to team up with the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program to deliver life-saving mental health messages to the community as part of the Baggy Blues Cricket Tour next week.
Member for Murray Austin Evans today encouraged the community to attend the celebrity T20 cricket match at Exies Sports Ground on 6 December at 6.30 pm.
Players will be attending from the Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder and NSW, including:
Mickey Edwards, Jay Lenton, Chad Sammut, Ben Dwarshuis, Ryan Hadley and Chris Green.
Prior to the game a cricket coaching clinic for the area’s junior cricketers will be held at 4.00 pm.

“Cricket brings our community together, and these matches will not only be great day out for the whole family but an important way for our rural mental health teams to reach those who need support,” Mr Evans said.
“If you notice changes in someone’s behaviour, either in yourself or those around you, reach out and encourage that person to take the first step and see their GP.”
The NSW Government has committed $6.3 million over two years to boost rural mental health supports. Part of the funding will provide 20 new ‘farm gate’ counsellors and frontline mental health workers.
