His enthusiasm and determination to deal with each and every issue in the electorate is widely appreciated. His strong voice in Parliament and his willingness to fight for what matters is respected. His background of service to the community includes his role as Councillor with the former Murrumbidgee Shire Council from 2012-2016, with two years as Mayor. Austin’s local government experience is supported by his career experience.

Thirteen years with Coleambally Irrigation provided Austin with an excellent understanding of irrigation and water management issues. This experience proves invaluable in understanding the importance and priorities of water to our region.

His background also includes positions with Kondinin Group, managing tillage equipment projects for the GRDC; SunWater, managing projects throughout the Queensland’s irrigation regions; as well as running his own small business.

Austin’s extensive career experience is supported by a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Agricultural Engineering.

Born in the region and raised on a dry area sheep and wheat farm he attended primary school in Matong and high school in Narrandera.

Austin is married to Demelza, who grew up on a dairy farm at Finley and studied nursing at CSU in Wagga. Together they have four boys, aged from 8 to 18 – all attending Coleambally Central School.
