Member for Murray Austin Evans has congratulated Griffith manufacturer Flavourtech for being named Australia’s best manufacturing exporter at the 56th Australian Export Awards.

“Flavourtech is a first class example of how exports can grow a business with 90 per cent of its sales now coming from Japan, China, India, Sri Lanka, Europe and the United States,” Mr Evans said.

“Flavourtech has been at the top of its game for some time—they have been named NSW’s best manufacturing exporter two years in a row and were a finalist in the national awards last year so it’s fantastic to see them take the national gong this time.”

Mr Evans said the advanced manufacturer specialises in aroma recovery, extraction and evaporation solutions for food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries.

“Flavourtech’s original quest to develop a solution to remove sulphur from grape juice in the winemaking process has now revolutionised the taste, smell and quality of products that consumers around the world eat, drink and use to improve their health on a daily basis,” Mr Evans said.

Flavourtech Finance and Administration manager Paul Smith said the company is very proud to be a manufacturer with local staff exporting from a regional centre in NSW.

“Our business has had many ups and down over the last 30 years but thanks to the passion and dedication of our staff we are now moving to new levels that we did not even dream of,” Mr Smith said.

Mr Evans said NSW exports to the world were valued at $82 billion in 2017 including $46 billion in goods exports and another $36 billion in services exports.

“Businesses that export are generally more successful hiring more staff, paying higher wages and having better productivity than firms that don’t export,” Mr Evans said.

“The NSW Government can assist companies wanting to export their products and services with its network of export advisors situated across the state including in Wagga Wagga.”
